Lovely Portugal lies with the big Atlantic Sea on one side and Spain to the other. The sea has always had a big influence on this nation. Famous explorers like Vasco da Gama and Ferdinand Magellan were both Portuguese – and around 1500 Portugal was a great nation with colonies in South America, Africa and Asia. Today Portugal is known for its fabulous climate, kind population and a wide range of experiences in e.g. Lisbon, Oporto, Algarve and the islands of Madeira and Azores.

Lisbon
Due to its excellent location, Lisbon has since time immemorial been the preferred ocean doorway for the more adventurous Mediterranean people.

Travel around Lisbon on its trams and funiculars, or the modern metro, where the stations are authentic underground works of art. Admire the Portuguese pavements, that make walking through Lisbon an unique experience.

Lisbon is one of the European capitals where the night life is enjoyed to the full. At the riverside, with its wealth of pavements cafés, bars and discos, the Avenida 24th de Julho or in the more traditional Bairro Alto you can have a drink and dance. In the Alfama and Bairro Alto listen to fado, songs from the Portuguese soul, played here is the Lisbon style.

In the environs of the capital, the cosmopolitan Cascais and the beautiful town of Sintra are a must. Don’t forget to stop off at Cabo da Roc, continental Europe’s most western point.

Oporto
There are thousands charm and corners that are worth discovering in Oporto, capital of the North. Oporto is one of the oldest cities of the country.

It is a unique experience to stroll through its streets and feel the pulse of the city. Take the tram to the mouth of the river Douro and get to know the excellent beaches and the out-door cafés, visit admiring churches and monuments and encounter the non-conformist modernism of the new contemporary buildings of architects like Siza Viera, Souto Moura or Rem Koolhaas.

Azores
Or why ot have your next meeting on the Azores – with their blue lakes bordered by flowers, dazzling views of the sea from high in the hills, and lush green landscapes of ancients volcanic craters.
